Two ROKAF KF-16s sent for performance upgrade still in US for over a year

During the National Assembly Inspection of State Affairs, National Assembly member Kim Kwang-jin raised the issue of two ROKAF KF-16s sent to the US for performance upgrades. As the firm to perform the performance upgrade has been changed and negotiations for the new contract are in process, the two KF-16s that were sent to the US as prototypes have been at a US military base for 16 months, raising concerns on the vacancy of these jets in ROKAF. The original plan was for the prototype performance upgrade to be finished in three to four months.
