Defense Program Corruption Taskforce announces plans to fight defense corruption

The Defense Program Corruption Taskforce under PMO, DAPA, and MND revealed plans that will be enacted beginning next year. First, a Defense Program Supervisor, who is likely to be a prosecutor or auditor from BAI and lead a team of 70, will be installed to conduct legal reviews in every main stage of defense programs including proposal assessment and source selection. The supervisor system will be an independent agency and is said to follow the model of the US DCAA. In addition, further measures include extending the period of employment restriction to related industries for DAPA employees to 5 years, strengthening restrictions on firms related to illegal activities, and imposing fines when recovering payments in corrupt programs.
