KRW 530 billion UAV found vulnerable to nK cyber hacking attacks

Controversy has been raised on the ROKA and ROKMC plan to incorporate Division level UAVs as the UAVs will be operated without any crypto device against nK cyber hacking attacks. Because the UAV operates with a pre-configured flight path and system, nK can acquire geographical information on ROK bases, video/voice data, and the UAV flight control system through hacking or capturing the UAV. A ROK military official noted that the military is aware of the problem and plans to embed crypto devices for the next Corps level UAV Program. The Division level UAV Program is a major acquisition program for KRW 530 billion until 2018.
