Military Court issued prison sentence to only one case of defense corruption

During the National Assembly Inspection of State Affairs, Assembly member Lee Choon-suak of the Legislation and Judiciary Committee pointed out that in the last five years, there has only been one imprisonment sentence among the 22 defense procurement cases handled by the Military Court. This is substantially lower than the average prison sentencing for bribery cases of general public workers, which is at 22.45%. In other cases, usually fines have been sentenced or prosecution itself was suspended, raising concerns that lukewarm punishments may have cultivated further defense corruption. Similar concerns were raised over the punishment of sexual crimes in the military.
